The idea of using art as a therapy tool began halfway through my military service. Those I taught and encouraged into art showed progression in patience, attention to detail, problem solving and adaptability.
The media I enjoy using is watercolor, ink, ceramics and sculpture. When an idea comes to light, I draft it out, this is my initial step. Through the drafting process, I polish the rough idea by picking which media will be used. This media is used in accordance with what best suits the concept. This allows me to have a more personal connection to the artwork. With this approach, I build a connection to the viewer.
Art is an outlet for the artist. Being creative provides a process to explore and express oneself. I started my journey into art to better my skills so I could teach others. It is my goal to pursue a career in art therapy. Bringing an opportunity for people to express themselves through art to find closure and/or understanding.
